Ajang penghargaan yang diberikan oleh National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences di Amerika Serikat untuk para pelaku industri musik, Grammy Awards 2021 telah selesai digelar.
Acara ini dilaksanakan pada Minggu (14/3) pukul 20.00 waktu setempat atau Senin (15/3) pukul 08.00 WIB, secara live streaming di Facebook dan YouTube.
Penghargaan kategori Song of the Year kali ini dimenangkan oleh H.E.R. berkat lagu ''I Can�t Breathe'' yang dirilis pada 2020. Dalam pidato kemenangannya, dia mengaku tak menyangka bisa membawa pulang piala itu.
''Saya benar benar bersyukur kepada Tuhan, ibu dan ayah saya. Dia menangis ketika mendengarkan lagu ini. Saya benar-benar tak bisa berbicara saat ini,'' ucap H.E.R.
"Ini merupakan lagu tema dari gerakan (Black Lives Matter). Sekarang, saya senang menjadi bagian dari sejarah,� jelas pemilik nama Gabriella Wilson ini.
�I Can't Breathe� adalah lagu yang dibuat berdasarkan kata-kata terakhir dari George Floyd dan Eric Garner sebelum meninggal dunia. Lagu ini dirilis di tengah gerakan Black Lives Matter.
