8beat is Jakarta based band formed around 2017 consist of Maysheilla Chandra (Main Vox), Kevin Johannes (Backing Vox and Guitar), Markus Hasaya (Synths and Effects), Marvin Rihardie (Bass), and Raka Apriliyo (Saxes). Fun fact, the name of the band actually doesn't mean anything, it's just catchy and easily pronounced. The band is highly inspired by 70s, 80s, and 90s music but still retain a modern 00s and 10s touch, and if you listen closely there's a bit taste of 60s and 70s psychedelic music somewhere in their music. Their musical Influence comes from Michael Jackson, The Doobie Brothers, Earth Wind and Fire, Incognito, Jamiroquai, Kool and the gang, Spandau Ballet, Hall and Oates, Duran Duran, even modern musician like Robert Glasper and Tame Impala.
